About the Role
Muon seeks a Software Engineer to join our Simulation team. An ideal candidate is a capable generalist software engineer who is as comfortable building reliable web services as they are delivering high-performance compute jobs. In this role, you will be a major contributor to our in-house Simulation tools, adapting our team’s numerical computation expertise into complete products relied on throughout the company.
This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Build and support in-house simulation services which meet the needs of stakeholder teams like business development, mission design, operations, and ground and flight software engineering
- Collaborate with the team's physical-modeling experts to integrate simulation models into complete products
- Implement improvements to our simulation products based on feedback from client teams
- Work closely with the Software Test team to apply simulation tools to testing scenarios
- Be a strong contributor to work estimation and planning
- Assist team success against performance metrics
Qualifications
- Proven ability to collaborate with specialized experts to deliver complex, cross-functional products
- B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years' experience as a software engineer in a team environment
- Proficiency in Python and C++
- Willingness to operate in novel technical domains
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience with numerical simulation techniques
- Fluency in statistical analysis
- Knowledge of the Julia language
- Familiarity with Linux systems administration and Docker containers
- Familiarity with cloud deployment environments, like Kubernetes and virtual instances
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop simulation
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps best practices
- General familiarity with orbital satellite operations
Salary
The salary range for this role is $156,000 - $186,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
