Employer description

About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Redwood is looking for a highly motivated Quality Engineer with broad experience across incoming quality, process quality, and customer-facing quality activities. A primary objective of this role will be to drive the identification, prioritization, and mitigation of quality risks throughout the operations. Additionally, the Quality Engineer is expected to support the development, deployment, and active improvement of critical quality system elements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop process and product quality standards and quality plans to ensure products will consistently meet the expectations of our customers
  • Lead the development of DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Process Control Plans, and test/inspection procedures to identify, prioritize and mitigate quality risks to the product
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement critical quality processes and to achieve quality objectives
  • Execute process and product quality readiness tasks for production ramp-up
  • Ensure quality standards are developed, communicated, and upheld for all actions related to manufacturing the product
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to facilitate swift and effective issue resolution, including root cause investigations using quality tools and the development, implementation, and validation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Work closely with the quality systems team to follow standards and processes

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality role
  • Experience with power electronics or battery technologies
  • Knowledge and experience leading structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Experience with the development and use of quality tools as well as other quality system elements
  • Adept with process data acquisition and quality analysis tools
  • Proficient in statistical methods and ability to apply them
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to execute with a calm and collaborative urgency
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
