By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Space team is dedicated to expanding our AI-powered capabilities into the final frontier, enhancing Space Domain Awareness, Space Control, and Command and Control for U.S. military and allied partners. We're developing fully integrated hardware and software systems, including Lattice for Space Missions and modular payloads, to address growing threats in space and ensure our Guardians maintain a decisive advantage in this contested warfighting domain.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Senior Orbital Software Engineer on the Space team, you'll own the architecture and delivery of state-of-the-art software for on-orbit spacecraft operations and mission management, with a focus on mission autonomy. You'll lead technical efforts across customer programs for the DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) as well as internal research and development (IRAD) initiatives.

You'll provide technical direction to a team building modular orbital capabilities and partner with the Anduril Lattice platform team to define how our orbital software system fits into the broader multi-domain architecture. You'll drive integration across long-standing legacy systems and new space assets, and shape how our software interfaces with payloads, spacecraft buses, and networks across proliferated satellite constellations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own the architecture, development, and deployment of on-orbit software, including autonomy algorithms and core flight code, for end-to-end mission systems.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code review to engineers on the team.
  • Define interfaces to payloads, spacecraft buses, and networks across proliferated satellite constellations.
  • Lead integration with legacy and next-generation space and ground systems.
  • Shape IRAD efforts and translate them into capabilities for customer programs.
  • Drive cross-team planning, development, and testing of complex functionality.
  • Establish metrics and tooling for debugging, monitoring, and system health.
  • Lead triage and root-cause analysis of critical issues and drive resolution.
  • Partner with end users and mission operators to turn needs into features, balancing user experience with engineering constraints.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
  • Ideally 8+ years professional experience working with a Rust or C++.
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and detailed requirements.
  • Capable of solving complex technical problems with little oversight.
  • Clear communication and organizational skills including documentation and training material.
  • Experience with spacecraft software systems and spacecraft operations.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional exposure to Python and Go
  • Experience with satellite mission autonomy to include fault isolation and recovery systems.
  • A desire to work on critical software in the space domain.
  • Experience with OMS/UCI standards and modular software services development.
  • Familiarity with software development and debugging for Linux.
  • Experience with ARM/RISC-V, including board bring-up, device trees and Linux drivers, boot loaders and FPGA interfacing.
