About Mach Industries

Founded in 2023, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.

Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.

The Role

Mach Industries is seeking a highly motivated and technically capable Construction Engineer to support the planning, design, coordination, and execution of construction and infrastructure projects across our facilities.

This role will be responsible for supporting capital improvement projects, facility expansions, tenant improvements, utility infrastructure, and specialized manufacturing environments.

The Construction Engineer will work closely with internal engineering teams, architects, consultants, contractors, and facilities personnel to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Mach's operational requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in construction engineering, understands the complexities of commercial and industrial construction, and is comfortable working in both office and field environments.

This position requires someone who can independently manage project deliverables, identify potential issues before they impact execution, and take ownership of assignments from initial planning through project closeout.

As Mach continues to scale, this individual will play a critical role in developing the physical infrastructure necessary to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Project Engineering & Execution

  • Support the planning, design, procurement, and execution of construction and infrastructure projects across Mach facilities.
  • Assist in managing projects from initial concept and feasibility through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities with general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, and potential field coordination issues before they impact project schedules.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to monitor construction progress, workmanship, quality, and adherence to approved documents.
  • Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and coordination of critical construction activities.
  • Assist with project turnover, punch lists, commissioning, and closeout documentation.

Design Coordination & Technical Review

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and design consultants to develop construction documents and technical solutions.
  • Review architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil drawings for coordination and constructability.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop, review, modify, and maintain construction drawings, facility layouts, and infrastructure plans.
  • Assist in evaluating facility infrastructure requirements to support manufacturing equipment, specialized processes, and operational expansion.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to understand equipment installation requirements, utility demands, and operational constraints.
  • Support site investigations, field measurements, existing-condition assessments, and infrastructure evaluations.
  • Assist in reviewing engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and technical submittals.
  • Maintain accurate project drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation.

Project Controls, Budgeting & Scheduling

  • Assist in developing project budgets, preliminary cost estimates, and construction schedules.
  • Review contractor proposals, estimates, and scope-of-work documents for completeness and alignment with project requirements.
  • Support competitive bidding, contractor selection, and procurement activities.
  • Track project expenditures, commitments, change orders, and budget forecasts.
  • Review contractor payment applications and validate completed work against contractual requirements.
  • Identify potential cost and schedule impacts and proactively recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain project trackers, schedules, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
  • Provide regular project status updates to Infrastructure & Facilities leadership.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate and oversee general contractors, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and construction service providers.
  • Support contractor onboarding, site access, work planning, and construction logistics.
  • Verify contractor work aligns with approved scopes, drawings, specifications, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Facilitate construction coordination meetings and communicate project priorities, constraints, and deliverables.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Assist in resolving field conflicts, technical questions, and construction-related issues.
  • Coordinate construction activities to minimize disruption to ongoing manufacturing and business operations.

Infrastructure & Facility Development

  • Support the development and expansion of Mach's manufacturing, testing, research, and office facilities.
  • Assist in evaluating existing infrastructure capacity, including electrical distribution, HVAC, compressed air, process piping, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Coordinate utility installations and infrastructure modifications required for new manufacturing equipment and operational capabilities.
  • Support equipment installations, facility modifications, and specialized infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in facility assessments, site evaluations, and construction feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, EHS, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to ensure construction activities support operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, maintainability, and scalability.

Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all construction activities.
  • Coordinate with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) personnel to ensure construction activities comply with applicable safety requirements.
  • Support contractor safety orientations, job hazard analyses, and preconstruction planning.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and applicable site-specific safety requirements.
  • Assist with permitting, inspections, and coordination with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Support compliance with applicable building codes, fire codes, and construction standards.
  • Identify and escalate unsafe conditions, construction deficiencies, and quality concerns.
