Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you’re joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don’t just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

The Finance Services Division is seeking a Senior Digital Architect to help build, enhance, and operate an enterprise reporting and intelligence platform. This role combines full-stack application development, cloud deployment, and operational ownership to deliver secure, reliable, and user-friendly digital solutions for internal business partners.

This position will work closely with Finance, IT, Operations, and other stakeholder groups to translate business needs into scalable applications. They will contribute across the application lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do:

Support the deployment and operation of applications in cloud environments, primarily Microsoft Azure, using source control, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure management practices

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise web applications and reporting solutions using Python, Django, React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and related technologies

Monitor application health, performance, reliability, and operational metrics; identify issues early and communicate risks, progress, and recommended actions to stakeholders

Participate in code reviews; produce clear, maintainable, well-tested code; and apply engineering standards and development practices

Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and engineering practices to recommend improvements that align with business priorities and the enterprise technology strategy

What You Will Have:

Design Thinking: Applies problem-solving methods to define needs, evaluate options, prototype solutions, and improve products and processes. Uses stakeholder feedback and testing results to refine solutions and support adoption.

Emerging Technologies: Evaluates new technologies and engineering practices for their potential business value, scalability, security, and operational fit. Recommends practical improvements that align with enterprise standards and long-term platform health.

Innovation: Identifies opportunities to improve application quality, development velocity, user experience, and operational efficiency. Encourages thoughtful experimentation while balancing innovation with reliability, security, and maintainability.

Organizational Leadership: Builds productive working relationships across technical and business teams. Helps translate strategic goals into clear technical priorities, supports shared decision-making, and drives work through completion.

Top Candidates Will Have:

Experience deploying, operating, or supporting applications and infrastructure in a cloud environment

Experience developing web applications with Python, including Django and/or Flask

Experience with modern frontend development using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS

Experience with Git, pull requests, code review practices, version control workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
