Figure is an AI robotics company building general-purpose humanoid robots with human-level intelligence. Our robots are engineered to perform a wide range of tasks in commercial and industrial environments. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It's time to build.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to own softgoods and plastic parts.
Responsibilities:
- Design parts in 3D CAD that satisfy load conditions, industrial design form factor, and durability requirements.
- Work closely with industrial designer to execute on the vision and form of the system
- Own the industrial design robot buck, keep up to date with latest files from our engineers and communicate with suppliers
- Design injection molded plastic parts with Class A surfaces
- Generate accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Inspect first articles, build test stands, and continuously support part on robot development platforms.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Experience working with industrial design departments
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or similar field
- Expert in using 3D CAD software to design parts with complex geometry
- Experience with high volume manufacturing processes specifically injection molding and die cutting
- Experience designing and building prototypes
- Ability to write and maintain clean documentation for design processes.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experienced with simulation and analysis methodology (FEA, MATLAB etc.)
- Experience working with contract manufacturers.
- Experience with fabric manufacturing

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $120,000 - $180,000 annually.
