Prototype Development Technician

Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It’s time to build.
We are looking for a Prototype Development Technician to take a hands-on role in building early stage mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for humanoid robot development.
Responsibilities:
- Build mechanical and electromechanical assemblies from CAD, schematics, and verbal guidance—often with limited to no work instructions
- Perform electrical tasks including wiring, soldering, and assembling custom harnesses
- Help execute tests, diagnose issues and implement solutions in partner with engineering teams
- Iterate on designs and incorporate frequent revisions
- Document build processes, findings, and feedback to support design
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to support development
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical prototyping or assembly
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and wiring diagrams
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues across mechanical and electrical
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Strong communicator
Bonus Qualifications:
- Degree in related technical field
- IPC certification
- Prior experience building robotic systems
- Experience 3D CAD modeling
- Experience with 3D printing, machining, or other in house fabrication
The US hourly range for this full-time position is between $30 - $40/hr.
