As a CMOP Lead supporting VA’s Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) operations, you will ensure today is efficient and secure—and tomorrow is smarter.
GDIT is partnering with VA to provide enterprise‑level support for national and regional CMOP systems that process millions of prescriptions annually. As the CMOP LEAD, you will oversee database operations, system performance, and cross‑site coordination to maintain 99.9% database uptime and ensure the accuracy, availability, and reliability of pharmacy workflows that directly impact Veteran care. You will lead technical support, collaborate with regional and national CMOP teams, manage incident response, and guide continuous improvement across seven CMOP production sites.
Your leadership ensures that CMOP systems remain stable, secure, compliant, and optimized to support VA’s high‑volume pharmaceutical operations.
HOW A CMOP LEAD WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Oversee installation, configuration, upgrades, tuning, patching, and performance monitoring for custom CMOP databases and applications.
• Coordinate database support for CMOP Regional and National staff, ensuring accurate pharmacy transactions, stable operations, and adherence to change management procedures.
• Direct incident response and 24x7 on‑call coverage to resolve urgent issues impacting prescription processing.
• Lead remediation of security findings, ensuring no recurring issues and compliance with VA standards.
• Drive proactive monitoring using Dynatrace, Splunk, and SolarWinds to detect and resolve performance risks.
• Oversee ServiceNow ticket management for all CMOP database-related issues to ensure timely resolution and minimal operational disruption.
• Provide documentation, reporting, and guidance to CMOP stakeholders, including database metadata, application processes, and transaction integrity support.
• Recommend and implement improvements to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and reliability across CMOP systems.
What You’ll need to Succeed
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in database administration, application support, or enterprise healthcare IT operations.
• Experience leading mission‑critical database environments with high availability requirements.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle database platforms, including performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting production environments with 24x7 operational demands.
• Ability to analyze system issues, guide root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Experience generating technical documentation, operational procedures, and stakeholder reports.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across distributed teams and high‑visibility operations.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with VA CMOP systems or large‑scale healthcare pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar monitoring platforms.
• Experience with compliance, security remediation, and performance metrics reporting.
• Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or database administration certifications (Oracle, SQL Server).
