Employer description

At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.

Our Senior Quality Control Inspector for Weekends position performs inspections or testing to ensure conformity with the type design engineering data, while mentoring less senior team members.  They document their results, identify defects and report when instances of poor quality items increase. Quality Control Inspectors safely discard or destroy items that don’t meet the necessary specifications to prevent unsatisfactory inventory from reaching production. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that all products meet our established requirements for reliability and workmanship, as well as other quality control program standards. The ideal candidate has keen attention to detail, and is proficient in using precision dimensional inspection equipment including, but not limited to, calipers and micrometers.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Perform complex Quality Control inspections and testing per inspection work instructions in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced inspection technicians, providing guidance on inspection techniques, measurement methods, and quality standards
  • Retrieve and interpret technical documents to develop inspection plans and work instructions
  • Perform First Article Inspections per AS9102 for complex assemblies and critical components
  • Conduct final acceptance inspections of aircraft sub-assemblies and high-complexity components
  • Complete required documentation and enter into ERP system, create detailed inspection reports as needed
  • Create and review non-conformance reports, participate in MRB reviews, and support disposition decisions
  • Communicate technical requirements to shop personnel and provide guidance on quality expectations
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex inspection issues and measurement challenges
  • Support the development and improvement of inspection processes, techniques, and documentation
  • Assign traceability to incoming raw materials, quarantine, and scrap non-conforming components
  • Maintain and calibrate measuring equipment to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain a clean work environment and comply with all safety requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work Friday-Sunday, 6am-6pm
  • High School graduate or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in quality control inspection in aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing environments
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and advanced dimensional inspection techniques
  • Extensive experience with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, CMM, and optical comparators
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections per AS9102
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to mentor fellow inspectors
  • Proficient in ERP systems and computer applications

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience in FAA-regulated production environments
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods
  • Background in composite and metallic aircraft component inspection
  • Experience with CMM programming and advanced metrology
