Employer description
About BaseBase is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the RoleVideo is one of the most important ways we introduce people to Base, explain our product, and turn interest into action.
We’re looking for a Performance Video Editor who combines exceptional editing craft with a deep understanding of what makes paid advertising effective. You’ll work closely with Marketing to develop, edit, test, and iterate on video ads that capture attention, communicate value, and drive measurable results.
This is an editing-first role for someone who thinks beyond the timeline. You understand audience psychology, know how to build compelling hooks, and can turn raw footage into multiple distinct creative concepts. You move quickly, have excellent taste, and use performance insights to make each round of creative better than the last.
What You’ll DoOwn paid social video editing from concept and creative development through iteration, finishing, and delivery.
Develop compelling hooks, narrative structures, visual pattern interrupts, and creative angles designed to capture attention and drive action.
Work closely with Marketing to understand campaign performance, identify creative learnings, and turn those insights into new concepts and tests.
Transform raw footage, interviews, testimonials, product demonstrations, and existing assets into high-performing ads across Meta, YouTube, and other platforms.
Produce meaningful creative variations by testing different hooks, messages, formats, pacing, and storytelling approaches.
Bring a high level of craft to every edit, including sound design, motion graphics, typography, color, and finishing.
Proactively pitch new creative concepts and challenge existing approaches when there’s an opportunity to make something more effective.
Partner with the senior creative content producer and broader creative team on larger campaigns, launches, and productions.
Occasionally capture supplemental footage, quick-turn content, or simple creative tests using an iPhone or Canon camera system when needed.
Maintain organized project files, footage, and reusable assets to support efficient creative iteration.
Use AI and emerging creative tools to improve production efficiency, expand creative possibilities, and increase testing velocity.
Stay close to evolving paid social formats, consumer behavior, and creative trends, bringing fresh ideas that feel authentic to Base.
What You’ll BringA strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional paid social video editing, particularly direct-response or customer-acquisition advertising.
Proven experience creating performance creative for platforms such as Meta, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
A deep understanding of hooks, pacing, retention, storytelling, creative testing, and conversion-focused messaging.
The ability to explain creative decisions, interpret performance feedback, and apply learnings to future ads.
Advanced proficiency in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, with motion graphics skills in After Effects or comparable tools.
Exceptional visual instincts, sound design sensibility, attention to detail, and a high bar for craft.
Experience turning limited footage or loose briefs into multiple compelling creative directions without extensive oversight.
Comfort working closely with performance marketers and responding quickly to campaign results, shifting priorities, and creative feedback.
The ability to balance creative quality with high output and fast turnaround times.
A willingness to be hands-on and occasionally capture simple footage when a creative concept calls for it. Extensive production experience is not required.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our ValuesFirst Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.
