Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Warehouse Design Engineer to join our Supply Chain Warehouse Automation and Design Engineering (WADE) team. The Design team is grounded in industrial engineering, labor analysis, and AutoCAD 2D/3D layout. This role will convert program and build rate needs into physical warehousing and fulfillment space. You will make sure each facility has the storage and processing equipment it needs, and that every system is integrated into the building and working on day one. Your work will directly enable Blue Origin’s mission by building the warehouse infrastructure that supports rocket manufacturing and launch operations.

As part of Blue Origin’s ongoing commitment to our safety culture, all employees must be willing to speak up when they see something that doesn’t seem right.

Run the bid process with vendors, build vendor comparison matrices, and recommend a vendor based on cost, coverage, and schedule Secure funding approval, award the contract, and manage the vendor through installation, including schedule, scope changes, issue resolution, and final inspection and buyoff Coordinate with Facilities, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety), IT, and site teams on power, fire and life safety, permitting, and building readiness. Build and maintain AI-enabled tools that speed up the team’s work, such as sizing calculators, dashboards, and scripts that automate repetitive AutoCAD tasks Present design recommendations, cost, and status updates to stakeholders and leadership

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience Minimum 7 years of experience in warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing facility design Proven ability to build space and cost models and payback analyses, and to author whitepapers and funding memos Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D for facility layout and racking design Working knowledge of industrial engineering methods, including MOST or other predetermined time systems, time studies, and capacity modeling Demonstrated track record of at least 2 end-to-end warehouse or facility projects, from requirements definition through vendor selection, installation, and buyoff Ability to travel up to 50%. This is a work-from-work position, and will require you to be in-office 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FlexSim or similar discrete-event simulation software (AnyLogic, Simio, AutoMod) Experience using AI and scripting to automate engineering work, such as building dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or similar), connecting AI tools or scripts to AutoCAD (AutoLISP, Python, .NET API), or building data tools in Python or SQL Strong knowledge of storage systems (selective and pallet flow racking, cantilever, shelving, VLMs (vertical lift modules), mezzanines) and related codes, such as seismic racking and high-piled storage requirements Experience integrating automation (AMR, AGV, AS/RS (automated storage and retrieval systems), conveyor, sortation) into facility designs Experience working in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments where safety, cybersecurity, and export control compliance are paramount Strong ability to turn ambiguous business needs into clear, phased facility requirements with defined milestones and decision gates
