Employer description
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
QUALITY INSPECTOR (STARLINK AVIATION)
Starlink is building aviation hardware that has to work the first time it reaches a customer. In this role you will be the person who checks that work: inspecting electrical and mechanical assemblies, catching issues early, and signing off only what actually conforms. You will sit with design, integration, quality, and supply chain every day, and your inspections are part of how Starlink gets reliable products into the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Run in-process and final inspections on electrical and mechanical assemblies, using drawings, CAD models, and released work instructions to confirm the build matches the design
- Check parts and assemblies against approved design data before anything is cleared for release
- Build and review FAA Form 8130-3 airworthiness release packages, including part identity, work performed, and traceability, and stop the release if the record or the hardware is not ready
- Write up production and test escapes, partner on root cause, and push corrective action through to close
- Raise and track nonconformances so the Starlink Aviation team can disposition them quickly
- Travel to install sites when needed to inspect hardware in the field
- Keep quality-system records current, check work against company and industry requirements, and look for practical ways to tighten the process
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years inspecting or performing quality control in manufacturing or production
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years inspecting hardware in a production environment
- Prior work preparing or checking FAA Form 8130-3 in aviation or other regulated manufacturing
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline
- Material review board, root cause, and corrective action experience
- Day-to-day use of AS9100 or ISO 9001
- Comfortable setting your own priorities and writing a clear inspection record
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Onsite role; overtime and weekends when a deadline requires it
- Shifts: 1st, 5:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., or 2nd, 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.
- Lift up to 25 lbs without help
- Stand for a full shift, 8 hours or more
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Quality Inspector/Level 1: $27.00 - $33.00/hour
Quality Inspector/Level 2: $31.00 - $39.00/hour
Quality Inspector/Level 3: $36.00 - $45.00/hour
